Diego es un bueno maestro
(Sam- you can stop reading now if it's too much, the title captures the main idea.)
So I feel that I might have given Diego a bad rap before. Today he made up for it. He went over adjectives and different type of clothing. He is funny especially when he thinks he is our laughs at us (Marina, Natja (pr: Natia), y yo) trying to speak or explain ourselves. One of today's assignments was to describe a man in a picture name Diego. So when we all wrote "es guapo" (because he was they typical hot Latino) he held his shirt and said "muchos gracias" and gave a little smile. So he is entertaining and today I learned more. I think he is impressed by my grammar skills because I am still speaking like I am pulling myself toward death.
So I am getting better about trying to speak even though I have trouble with vocabulary. Isabel (maestra dos) is teaching us about gustar. She asks us what we like about our jobs. Its my turn. I say something like this:
soy una maestra por los ninos. me guatan los ninos. me gusta ensensar matematicas. no me gusta ensenar ingles. Then I think
"como se dice "scripted program" en espanol?" I try my way around telling her that all teacher have to teach the same thing and the program is scripted, but this is really difficult. Nadja and Marina are happy for the break while I struggle to communicate simple ideas.
Lesson learned today: I understand the plight of my students. It is so hard to say the simplest of things when you don't know the vocabulary. Word banks, thinking maps, and charts do help.
